Most students know that Portuguese does not have
the “th” sound. What many people don’t know is that there are two “th” sounds
in English. One of them is voiced and the other is voiceless. An easy way to
identify if the sound is voiceless or voiced is the following:
Three thin thieves thought it was possible to come in through the bathroom window. Thief number one threw the rope and climbed up; thief number two told number three to count to thirty and let go. Thief number three didn’t know his math, counted to thirteen instead, and they both fell into some thorny bushes below.
These are my mother, my father and my
brother. Although they don’t look like me, there are many ways in which we are
similar. They are trustworthy and they never tell each other lies. Clothing is
rather unimportant to them, as they believe it’s what’s inside us that counts.
And the best of all, they live in another country, so there is no way we can
bother each other.
